D is for Delivery

There are dozens of components to a speaker’s Delivery, but they can be collected into three basic categories:

  • Vocal cues (volume, pitch, rate, and pauses)
  • Visual cues (gestures, movements, facial expressions, and the use of visual aids)
  • Integration of the visuals and vocals with other rhetorical techniques (such as storytelling, examples, and metaphors)

“It is delivery that makes the orator’s success.”

~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
